I was born May 9th, 1977
and raised in Northern California; in and around the Redding and Red
bluff area, about 138 miles north of Sacramento, CA. I've always
been into art, ever since I was little; Always doodling skulls and
cartoons on anything I could get my hands on so I could draw. My
appreciation for art really started when I got into collecting comic
books and movie posters. I love the style, illustration is my
favorite.
After I graduated high school I went into the United States Marine
corp. for a four year term. It pretty much sucked.....Actually it
wasn't that bad I learned a lot about myself and what I wanted to
accomplish. I remember when I was about 13 maybe 14 years old my
mother went to a tattoo parlor in Tempe, AZ. And had her tattoo
redone and I remember it was absolutely the most amazing tattoo. So
I was hooked I wanted to tattoo, I thought it was the coolest job
ever, so I continued to pay close attention to the industry and to
the art not knowing whether I would ever become an artist or not. So
after getting out of the military I tracked down a local artist by
the name of Jim Rolson and asked if he wanted an apprentice, and he
offered to teach me, after a long conversation about it. It was a
short apprenticeship, few months of training, right away I went and
bought all the necessary equipment and started tattooing all my
buddies. It has been great , it turned my life into an art world.
Most of the time it doesn't even seem like work, its more like I get
to do a great hobby all day, every day.
I started to get back into painting after I worked for studio c.
Which is a poster restoration company in San Diego, CA and other art
mediums. In that time I purchased an easel and began learning how to
paint acrylics and oils, since I have airbrushed for years in my
spare time and restoring posters. I have done a lot of paintings but
keep on the look out in the near future I'll have some posters on
the site.
Some of my art inspirations are M.C. Escher and Salvador Dali, which
are my favorite. For my tattoo inspirations there are so many
awesome tattoo artist to list that I look up to; but to name a few,
would have to be Sailor Jerry, Lyle Tuttle, Tom Renshaw, Joe
Capobianco, Nick Baxter, Mike Devires and my friend Jason Tackett
and last but not least my boss Glenn, Victor Tackett if it was not
for these people as inspiration or just work relations I would not
be where I am today.
So now I'm hoping to expand my abilities, to achieve the utmost
realistic tattoos in do time: portraits, animals, pin-ups, skulls
and a mixture of traditional and new school are my favorite things
to do; anything that is real or tattoo related I want to excel in
all. With all the amazing artist out there and the artists I've
mentioned above that produce kick ass work, day in and day out, it
drives me to do great work at a fair price and to push my limits as
well. |
